Medicinal
Herbs
Ayurvedic herbs come
in numerous forms, depending on the purpose they will serve. Selecting an appropriate
herb from such a wide variety requires specialist knowledge.
An unique
combination of herbs will be picked for your individual needs as part of your
consultation session. This selection takes place once your constitution and medical
history have been assessed and root cause analysis of your problems conducted.
The selected herbs will target your particular ailments in the context of your
constitution, bearing in mind your strength and digestive powers.
For example,
if it were necessary to enhance your digestion, herbs that might be considered
include Trikatu, Triphala, Hingvasthaka Churna and Asofaetida. However if you
have a Pitta constitution, Trikatu may be too hot in its potency. Instead Triphala
or Hingvasthaka Churna might be a better choice.
If you are suffering from
a common cold, ginger and honey are wonderful aids. Whilst fresh ginger is better
for you if you have a Kapha or Vata constitution, a milder powder form is more
suitable for you if you have a Pitta constitution.
Those suffering from
arthritic conditions or requiring a very good anti-inflammatory might be treated
with Guggulu resin. Processing it with herbs enhances the properties of the resin.
Once again, choosing the right combination for your individual needs requires
knowledge of the herbs as well as of the disease and your constitution.
